Burn Injuries

Thousands of people suffer severe burn injuries every year and hundreds more lose their lives because of this serious injury.  Burn injuries can occur at home, on the job, or on the road as the result of faulty equipment, negligence, and other uncontrollable circumstances.  Burn injuries can be excruciatingly painful and victims have a difficult time recovering from these injuries.  Burns leave scars that can last a lifetime, and these scars can be psychologically damaging to burn victims.  If you or a loved one has suffered from a burn injury, you should speak with a Pasadena personal injury lawyer at our firm.  Our attorneys represent clients for personal injury claims and wrongful death suits and can help you get the compensation you deserve after suffering needlessly from someone else’s negligence.

There are three classifications of burn injuries:

  • First Degree Burns:  Minor burns involving only the top layer of the skin.  This type of burn is red and hot, but there is no swelling or blistering.
  • Second Degree Burns:  Involve the top layer of the skin as well as part of the layers underneath.  The skin is red and blistery and somewhat swollen.  The pain is severe.
  • Third Degree Burns:  Involve all layers of the skin.  The burn will destroy nerves and the red blood vessels in the skin, which is why there is little pain at first in victims suffering from third degree burns.  As the burn heals there will be dense scarring and victims may require skin grafting.

There are a number of different causes of burn injuries, including gas explosions, chemical burns, electrical burns, and car accidents, and all can cause life altering scars, both physically and psychologically.  Some burns are so severe that they require surgery, months off of work, and years of recuperation.  The medical costs associated with burn injuries can be excessive, and it does not seen fair that the victim should have to pay for these things when someone else is responsible for causing the injuries.  If it can be proved that an individual, company, manufacturer, or other group is responsible for an individual’s burn injuries, your personal injury attorney will work endlessly to make sure they provide compensation.
